"But they could not catch Him in His words in the presence of the people. And they marveled at His answer and kept silent." Luke 20:26
Too often Christians go on the defensive when questioned about their faith. Yet, greater is he that is in us than he that is in the world. While a good defense will win most games, it takes an offense to score a touch down. The two must work hand in hand. In this, we see Jesus not simply taking the hit and holding back the enemy. He is purposing to score by stumping their questions with questions to make them think through their own ridiculous reasoning. We should follow in like manner and question our opponent of their own beliefs with the confidence of planting spiritual seeds in their hearts that will have the potential to grow. There is no rulebook that says every question of the enemy must be answered. In fact, it seems from Jesus that his method was not to answer their questions but to put them on trial instead.
