Love Believes All Things

In Ephesians 5:1-2, we are exhorted to be imitators of God as dear children. We know that our beliefs about God as our Father will affect our behavior as His children. What did you learn this week about how your belief affects your behavior?

Andres T. – This week, the Lord has taught me that He truly wants to transform us. His promises are never failing and true and He has given them to us to believe and to cling to. When we decide to truly believe His words and promises, we change the way we live and our behaviors change into actions that reveal a firm and immovable belief in every aspect of God’s word.

Charlene D. – I’ve learned that the way I behave is a result of my beliefs. If I believe the good and loving thoughts God has of me, then I will behave worthy of that. If I believe in the power of prayer, in the power of the gospel, and in the power of the body, then my desires and my behavior will change to reflect those truths. My prayers will be purposeful, I will walk worthy of the gospel, and I will be in unity with my fellow believers.

Jared R. – When I choose to let my belief in Jesus Christ shine through my life every day people around me see Him only in anything I do or say. People feel joy when they see you live with the joy of the Lord in your actions. I have learned this week serving, if you have a heart and mindset on serving as Jesus would in His name, those whom you are serving notice the Spirit of God within you, regardless if they tell you or not. When I let my behavior come from my beliefs, I’m doing everything for God’s glory and not my own.

Leigh Anne Z. – God has called me by name and given me a new identity. When I choose to believe what He says about me––how He calls me to live––it affects my behavior. This week I got to see how the Lord quiets all of my fears and anxiety with His love and gives me peace. When I believe the grace He has for me, I am free from putting expectations on self and others. When I believe He is enough, I am able to have genuine and consistent joy that surpasses circumstances.

Marissa H. – Actually believing what I read in the Bible instead of just reading it and going on with my day has made such a difference in the way I act and my attitude towards what we do here. If I don’t take time to dissect the verses then I won’t truly believe it. When I do dissect the verse and when I find the true meaning behind it, it’s a lot easier to believe. I learned how to be an imitator of Christ, how to live them out.

Neil C. – What do I know because what I believe affects the way that I live and act? I know that the Father has called me by name, and in Him I have a new identity. My old self has gone away and my new self has purpose in Him. In Him I am free.

Sophia P. – This week I learned a lot about how important believing in something actually is. Belief affects behavior and I want my behavior to reflect Christ’s. To serve, to love and to be humble. These are not easy things, and I will never be able to accomplish this without believing that He who began a good work in my will complete it. Through believing this, I will be able to walk in confidence that His work is being completed a little more each day.

Zachary G. – As an imitator of my heavenly Father, I not only can believe in perfect agape love for me, but I can let it define who I am. Any other kind of love is not real love at all. I have the blessing of the example of Christ as my belief affects my behavior. It just starts with me believing everything He says about Himself and about me.
