Passion

We have been crucified with Christ, and we no longer live but Christ lives in us (Galatians 2:20). What did you learn this week about what it means to be crucified with Christ?

Andres T. – This week I learned that through Christ’s death, I am able to live in newness of life. I have been given a new identity and purpose through the cross and the old man, who Jesus died to redeem, lives no more. My penalty for sin was paid for by Christ and understanding this changes the way I now live. No longer should I live in the flesh, but live according to the man Christ calls me to be.

Charlene D. – What does it mean to be crucified with Christ? It means that the moment I believed in Him I was with Jesus on that cross, dying to my flesh and being reborn as a new creation in Him. I need only to believe and live out what’s already been done––that on the cross He delivered me from what I was. I was a descendent of Adam, born a sinner, but when I was crucified with Christ, I died to that and was born in Him. By His strength alone He literally died for me, He took the pain for me, and so I am dead too to my flesh. I am no longer a child of Adam but of Jesus.

Jared R. – I have been crucified with Christ once and for all. I learned that I have been bought by the greatest price by the One who first loved me so much that He paid the ultimate price on Calvary’s Cross, that I could spend eternity in heaven with the Father and not be condemned to eternal separation from Him! Since Jesus paid it all on the cross for me, I don’t have to live my life constantly working to receive forgiveness of my sins; my sins have been put on that cross forever and they are dead in my past forever. I am made into a new creation through His sacrifice for me!

Leigh Anne Z. – The phrase “I have been” as it pertains to being crucified with Christ, impacted me a lot this week. The work is finished, I don’t need to try and rid myself of my flesh, it’s already dead. The blood of Jesus satisfied every requirement God had for salvation and sanctification. I just have to choose to believe this and let the belief change my behavior.

Neil C. – God’s plan for me is even better and more than I could ever think of, but often I do not trust in Him. I often run from Him not knowing that He can give to me abundantly all that I could ever need. He wants me to rely on Him in all situations, there is no material thing that He cannot provide, but He also provides the things that I need spiritually. I am His and there is no better place to be than in His loving care.

Sophia P. – This week I learned that Galations 2:20 is in the past tense. I have been crucified with Christ, it is finished, already accomplished. I don’t need to live my life continuously trying to crucify my flesh, I need to accept that I can’t and that He already did it for me. To be brought to my knees in gratitude for the grace that I have, not the grace that I will have once I deal with all my sins. It’s the grace I have right now and for eternity.

Zachary G. – Being crucified with Christ isn’t something that I have to do. I don’t have to try and put my flesh to death because it has already been done. I couldn’t do it and I don’t have to bear that cross. He not only washed me of my sin with His blood but He crucified my sin nature with Him on the cross. In light of that, it compels me to give the most precious things in my life to Him and because of what He has done it is never a waste.
