Living Hope

1 Peter 1:3 says that our hope is alive. What have you learned this week about living hope?

Andres T. – This week, the Lord has taught me what our true living hope is. Through Christ, we have the privilege of having a confident expectation of heaven through the resurrection of Jesus as well as resurrection for us believers. He is alive, and so is our hope. This should change the way we live our lives!

Charlene D. – This week I learned that our hope is alive because Jesus is alive. This for us means that since we were also crucified with Christ, we will rise up with Him too. Since I have this living hope I need to live it out. I learned the importance of confronting sin so that it does not spread and corrupt other areas of my life. I learned again that it is important to know the Word of God so that when Satan is deceiving me, I can discern it from the truth.

Jared R. – We have a living hope in Jesus’ resurrection from the grave, because we know that we will be resurrected after we pass on from earth to eternity with the Lord! Since I believe that I will be resurrected like Jesus was, that I should live out my life with that joy of knowing this promise, and I need to let as many people know about this living hope we have in Jesus! We don’t have a dead hope because our God’s not dead, He is alive in and through us!

Leigh Anne Z. – This week I learned how truly alive, active, and accessible the living hope Jesus offers is,  I just have to purpose to choose to believe it.  I found living hope this week by choosing to focus and meditate on scripture, rather than dwelling on my emotions or circumstances. The living hope of Jesus also means that I too will rise. There were many moments where I saw the power of the living hope of the resurrection of Jesus from the dead give me strength when I had nothing left.

Marissa H. – “...according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope...” I love this part of the verse, it reminds me that Jesus’ mercy is so crazy. He is not hesitant to freely give it. He is our living hope, our confident expectation. His mercy does not fade away and It’s crazy for me to think of that, I don't deserve His mercy or His love but He gives it anyway. There is just so much raw truth to it, I get so pumped to memorize verses like this because they are short but so powerful. I am just growing in awe and thankfulness for Jesus and His ultimate sacrifice for us.

Neil C. – Living hope means that my hope is not something that will ever fail. My hope is not on something that is of this earth that will one day perish. Instead, I put my hope in the living God. My hope is not dead because He is not dead. He has risen and He has called me one of His children. I am a child of God.

Sophia P. – For the past two weeks we’ve been learning about hope, how it purifies and how it is blessed. But would that really mean anything if it were dead? I would not be able to hope in a Savior that never saved, that stayed in the grave and never resurrected. It would not be able to purify me and I wouldn’t consider it blessed. But because Jesus lived, He died and then He lived. I can truly hope. Hope in His return and in my own resurrection, hope in an eternal life in communion with Jesus.

Zachary G. – This week, we learned about the living hope we have knowing our Savior rose and we will rise with Him too. I learned how this should lead me to praise and worship in a lifestyle that illustrates the truth of scripture to those without hope. It is because of this living hope that irritation and pressure can produce something incredible and that I can be apart of the background work of the gospel spread and be just as satisfied as those who reap the harvest. The Lord really used Philippians 4:11-13 to minister to me this week as my hope in Him means I can receive His strength in every situation.
